My Life of Running

The Run Box Co-founder Annie, talks about her last 25 years of running...

Since my daughter and I began our business The Run Box, I thought it made sense to share my running story.

I’ve been a runner for 25 years which all began with the Cancer Research ‘Race for Life’ in our local town. The next 5 years saw me fall completely in love with running and completing my first ever London Marathon in the year 2000.

Over the next 20 years I got the serious running bug and have now completed 10 marathons, 3 half marathons, 10 great south runs, 5 triathlons, 1 ultra-marathon and many smaller events. Which at the age of 60, I still can’t quite believe I’ve done!

The Run Box as a business aims to inspire and support runners of all abilities & ages to start or keep up their running. We are coming from a place of true authenticity and believe running really is key to a fulfilled life.

Running gives me a sense of achievement, freedom and overall well-being. Through life’s ups and downs, running has always been my strength. There are days when I’m dragging my feet but no matter how I feel, I still just get out there and do it! You never regret a run.

In recent years I’ve been focussing more on my nutrition and lifestyle and I’ve never felt better! Information about nutrition is so much more readily available compared to 25 years ago, and that has really helped me achieve my fitness goals.

This may sound like a diary entry but the point I wanted to make is that age really doesn’t define you and you are capable of more than you can imagine. Even shorter runs can bring such a huge variety of benefits both physically and mentally.

All you need to do is JUST GET OUT THERE!
